Princeton Entrepreneurship Council (PEC), the Association of Black Princeton Alumni (ABPA), the Association of Latino Princeton Alumni (ALPA) and Princeton Alumni Angels (PAA) invite you to apply to the Princeton Underrepresented Minority Founders Startup Showcase. We encourage all startups with a Princeton underrepresented minority founder or C-suite executive (alumnus/faculty/postdoc/graduate or undergraduate student) to apply to the showcase, to be held virtually via Zoom on Thursday, September 10.

The Princeton Underrepresented Minority Founders Startup Showcase will feature six companies, selected from the pool of applications, ranging from commercial ventures to social impact (double net bottom line) organizations and spanning the funding spectrum (not yet funded, self-funded, angel-funded, and venture-funded seed and A rounds, but excluding companies which have raised funds in post-Series A rounds). Audience attendees, which will include many angel and VC investors as well as Princeton alumni, students, faculty, and their guests, will "invest fictional currency" and the top invested companies will be recognized.

Selection criteria will include quality of management team, overall quality of presentation, clarity of business value proposition, market size and share, current and projected traction, and exit potential.

U.S. underrepresented minorities (URM) include citizens and permanent residents who self-declare their race or ethnicity to be one of the following: Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic, American Indian/Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian/other Pacific Islander. It also includes citizens and permanent residents who self-declare a multi-racial identity, provided at least one of the racial identities on its own is included in the U.S. URM definition.

Applications will be accepted through Sunday, August 16 at 11:59pm EDT. Companies selected to present at the showcase will be notified by Monday, August 24. All applicants confirm that, if selected, they will be able to participate in the September 10th showcase (tentatively scheduled for 4:00 pm EDT).

Please contact PEC's Anne-Marie Maman '84, Executive Director, at amaman@princeton.edu or Don Seitz ’79, Assistant Director, at donseitz@princeton.edu with any questions. A Google account is required to submit an online application; if this is an issue please contact Don Seitz to make alternate arrangements.
