The New Jersey Commission on Science, Innovation and Technology has announced the latest round of Catalyst and Clean Tech Seed Grant awards, including four Princeton-connected startups.
The Catalyst Seed Research & Development (R&D) Grant and Clean Tech Seed Grant programs help early-stage companies accelerate the development of their technologies and help transform research discoveries into commercially-viable products and services.
“Funding New Jersey startups today through grant programs like the Catalyst Seed R&D Grant and the Clean Tech Seed Grant helps to guarantee a strong economy in the future and furthers Governor Phil Murphy’s vision for the state,” said CSIT Executive Director Judith Sheft. “Cultivating companies within our state during their formative years helps us to promote financial growth, sustainability, and economic mobility for years to come.”
Princeton awardees are summarized below:
Catalyst Seed R&D Grant
- AquaPao, a spinout from Rodney D. Priestley, Dean of the Graduate School and Pomeroy and Betty Perry Smith Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering
- Tendo Technologies, a spinout from Marcus Hultmark, Associate Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
Clean Tech Seed Grant
- HiT Nano, a spinout from Yiguang Ju, Robert Porter Patterson Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
- Project Plastic, founded by graduate alumni Nathaniel Banks and Yidian Liu
Also receiving a Catalyst Seed R&D Grant award from CSIT were Regenosine and RizLab Health, resident companies at Princeton Innovation Center Biolabs, where Project Plastic and Tendo are also located.
